Mr. J.B. Sangwan

EXPERT – OPERATIONS & TRAINING

Mr. J.B. Sangwan is a retired Inspector General from India’s primary border guarding force. He joined BSF as Assistant Commandant in 1984 and retired in 2020 after a glorious career in which he served on the Indo-Pak border, most happening frontier of State of Tripura and State of Chhattisgarh (Naxals) and conducted courses for senior officers. A few from his long illustrious career:

  • 1996 to 2002: with BSF Battalion in J&K including Kargil and North-East, responsible for planning, execution & supervision of operations, co-ordination with various agencies, man-management, planning & organising logistics for 1200 men & their families, planning & expenditure of annual budget, supervision & monitoring of construction
  • 2007-2010: as DIG (Intelligence) on Indo-Pak border, responsible for collection, analysis/collation & dissemination of intelligence work, hold meetings of all intelligence agencies for better co-ordination (BSF as lead intelligence agency) and security of various campuses
  • 2016-2020: commanding 20,000 officers and men, fully responsible for amongst others the management of Operations, man-management including career growth, budgeting expenditure & monitoring, organising meetings with Bangladesh border guards for resolution of various issues and better coordination
