Maj. Gen. Ajay Ohri

An alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Maj Gen Ajay Ohri, SM, a veteran, has served for 37 illustrious years in the Indian Army. Having requisite technical qualifications, (Equivalent to MSc. in Military Technology), the officer has had extensive experience in evaluation and procurement of military weapons, ammunition and equipment, while serving as Additional Director General Infantry in Delhi from Jan 2016 to Aug 2018, Director PMO FINSAS (Project Management Organisation – Future Infantry Soldier As a System) in years 2008-2009 in Army Headquarters, and in the Trials Cell, Infantry School, Mhow from 1992 to1995.

The officer, for over three years, as Instructor, Trials Cell, The Infantry School, Mhow carried out more than 50 evaluations of various weapons and equipment, to include, Assault Rifles, Carbines, Light Machine Guns, Disposable Rocket Launchers, Faggot Launcher Adapted to Milan Equipment, Ammunition for Mortars, Rocket Launchers, and Automatic Grenade Launchers, Bullet Proof Jackets, Global Positioning Systems, Automated Mortar Fire Data Computer, Battle Field Surveillance Radar, Night Vision Devices and Sighting Systems, Laser Range Finders and Simulators.

The officer was involved in selection and evaluation of next generation of weapons, ammunition & equipment for the Infantry and integrate the complete ensemble as a system.

Additional Director General of Infantry
The officer, meticulously handled procurement of weapons, ammunition & equipment for numerous projects of the Indian Army. He was also involved in human resource management including recruitment & training, management of financial grants and budgeting as also the formulation of futuristic plans for the biggest combat arm of the Indian Army.

USP Expertise in evaluation and procurement of military weapons and equipment. While in service, he had his share of soldiering in the Counter Insurgency Operations in Doda (J&K), OP PARAKARAM in Jaisalmer Sector and OP MEGHDOOT in Siachen Glacier and is, therefore, well conversant with the requirements of soldiers in all types of terrain.
