Partner & Practice Head – Defence Affairs

Major General Anil Khosla, AVSM, SM, VSM**(Retd.), a highly decorated officer for his distinguished and dedicated service in the Indian Army; has had an illustrious and unblemished career spanning over 38 years. He superannuated from the Indian Army as Military Secretary to the President of India on 31st Jan
2018 from Rashtrapati Bhavan and was appointed as Managing Director, Army Welfare Education Society wef 01 Jun 2018. The appointments held by him during service and after superannuation are as follow:-

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
1. Managing Director, Army Welfare Education Society (Since Jun 2018)

  • Managing 12 Professional Colleges covering all core streams (Medical, Engineering, Dental, Nursing, Hotel Management, B.Ed, Fashion Designing etc) across the country.
  • Managing 137 Army Public Schools (110 Senior Secondary and 27 Secondary Schools), across the country.
  • Also Managing 249 Army Pre-Primary Schools and 37 Asha Schools Across the Country.

2. Military Secretary to The President of India (Mar 2013 – Jan 2018)

  • Handpicked by the President of India in the year 2013, after going through rigorous selection process, among the top most Military officers, to be his Military Secretary.
  • Made outstanding contributions in the functioning of President’s Secretariat and assisted The President to project a very high image of the highest office of the country both at the national and international levels.
  • Assisted in the conduct of ceremonial functions e.g. receptions to Heads of The State, State Banquets, Republic Day Parade, Civil and Defence Investiture Ceremonies, Presentation of Colours to Armed Forces in an impeccable manner.
  • Interacted with Ministers/Ministries at International / National & State Level.
  • Interacted with various Govt/Non Govt agencies at the apex level.
  • Work during these years was profoundly acknowledged by none other than the Hon’ble President during his Address to the august gathering on the occasion of inauguration of the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum by the Prime Minister on 25th July 2016.
  • Though going by the convention the Military Secretary to the President demits office on the completion of term of the President, I was retained as Military Secretary by the new incumbent.
  • For rendering distinguished service of an exceptional order to the President and his Secretariat, I was awarded ‘Ati Vishisht Seva Medal‘ (AVSM) by the President of India in the year 2017.

3. Additional Director General, Ceremonial and Welfare at Army Headquarters / MoD

  • Was responsible for conduct of national functions like the Republic Day Parade, Beating Retreat Ceremony, Martyrs’ Day and Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony in coordination with various executing agencies. Also organized the Defence Investiture Ceremonies for presentation of gallantry and distinguished service awards at Rashtrapati Bhawan in association with the President’s Secretariat.
  • Ceremonies connected with President’s visits to various parts of the country.
  • Awarded Bar to ‘Vishisht Seva Medal‘ (VSM) for distinguished service in 2014.

4. Brigade Commander

  • Commanded the Brigade in Country’s first Tri Services Command at Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • Responsible for conduct of high level training to include Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and foreign contingents.
  • For outstanding contribution as a Brigade Commander was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) in 2010.

5. Brigadier Administration in HQ Southern Command, Pune

  • Largest Geographical Command in Indian Army

6. Commander/Deputy General Officer Commanding in Sub Area, Udhampur

  • Largest operational Sub Area in J&K

7. Commanding Officer – 26 Rashtriya Rifles

  • Worked in the intensive Counter-Insurgency, Counter terrorism operation area of district Doda in J&K.
  • Participated in Operation Prakram in the year 1999.
  • For rendering this distinguished service as the Commanding Officer was awarded Sena Medal (SM) in the year 2003.
