Mr. Suraj Bhan Nain is a former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, 1984 batch of Indian Revenue Service, with over 32 years of experience in Income tax and worked in Tax Policy & Legislation, Assessment, Appellate, Investigation and as Departmental Representative.
Few highlights of his vast experience are:
- Worked as Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, looking after tax administration.
- Worked as Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), the first Appellate Authority, for 9 years at New Delhi and other places dealing extensively with issues relating to International Taxation, Corporate Taxation and Search Assessments
- Represented the Income Tax Department, as Commissioner of Income Tax [CIT(DR)], before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, New Delhi with success and effectiveness resulting in many favourable decisions
- Assisted in formation of Tax Policy of the Government of India and preparation of the Finance Bills (2002-2005) while working on Deputation as Director, Tax Policy and Legislation, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Ministry of Finance
- Worked as Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (Special Range) at Mumbai assessed various large corporate assesses
- Worked in Investigation Wing of the Income Tax Department for seven years and was instrumental in initiation and conduct of several search and seizure operations
